Awards

Thank to the generous support from our sponsors, the NeuroErgonomics Conference 2024 (NEC’24) was able to deliver a number of awards. We describe below the award types and their 2024 laureates.

Parasuraman prizes

This prize, named in honour of Raja Parasuraman, the founder of Neuroergonomics, is delivered at each NeuroErgonomics Conference, and is based exclusively on the quality of the papers submitted at the conference. Two such prize were delivered this year, one for junior scientists (PhD and post-docs), and one for senior scientists (independent researchers). In 2024, the prizes were sponsored by the conference’s Diamond sponsor, Bionic France. The 2024 laureates are:

  • Parasuraman Prize: Young Investigator Award
    • Lukas GEHRKE for the paper “Agency-preserving action augmentation: towards preemptive muscle control using brain-computer interfaces
  • Parasuraman Prize: Senior Investigator Award
    • Anne-Marie BROUWER for the paper “Monitoring engagement in an inaugural lecture

Best Talk and best Poster awards

These awards are based both on the scientific quality of the papers presented (either as a poster or as a talk), and on the quality of the presentations. In NEC’24, there were two awards, one for posters, one for talks. In 2024, these awards were sponsored by Frontiers in Neuroergonomics. The 2024 laureates are:

  • Best Poster Award
    • Florine RIEDINGER for the poster “Exploring airplane pilots’ acceptability of brain stimulation: a neuroethics qualitative study
  • Best Talk Award
    • Katharina LINGELBACH for the talk “Emotional Detours: Oscillatory Signatures of Emotion and Cognitive Load during Simulated Driving

Hackathon Awards

As part of the pre-conference workshops, a passive BCI hackthon took place, organized by Evy van Weelden, Maryam Alimardani & Travis J. Wiltshire. The laureates of this competition, whose awards are sponsored by g.tec, are:

  • 1st Place Award: Team 2 with Michael Bui, Miloš Pušica & Juliette Meunier
  • 2nd Place Award: team ISAE, with Jules Gomel, Pietro Cimarosto & Juan Jesus Torre-Tresols
  • Honorable Mention: team JADE with Jaime Salas, Ettore Cinquetti & Anaïs Pontiggia

Travel Awards

Thanks to generous sponsorships, we have been able to offer 10 travel awards, to waive registration fees of selected applicants, based on their contribution to the conference, service to the community of neuroergonomics and financial needs. The 2024 laureates of the travel awards are:
